Gamescom 2023 is in full swing and we’ve seen many updates and reveals. As part of the Xbox presentation from the show floor on day 2, we got STALKER 2 information. In the days leading up to Opening Night Live, we saw a leaked release date for the game. This was the second date I’d seen so far. Previously listed for 8th December this was seemingly moved to 1st December. But keep in mind GSC Game World has not formally announced anything up to this point. Though they did confirm it was playable at Gamescom.
There were small YouTube shorts where people said they’d played the demo and had been impressed. So it seems as though STALKER 2 was shaping up well. Later today at the time of writing we are expecting more on the game as well. It seems some of today’s news is found on a fact sheet by GSC Game World.
The Possible Latest On STALKER 2
The fact sheet lists a lot of information about the game. However, a point at the bottom section caught my attention regarding the game’s distribution.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases on PC and Xbox Series X/S in Q1 2024. The game will be available on Game Pass day one, and preorders are opened on our website, as well as on Steam and GOG. Preorder of physical editions available on official website
So it seems the game has missed the 2023 window and is coming in early 2024. I must add that GSC never gave that December window in trailers. Pure Xbox felt this was indeed a placeholder. It’s no secret the development was troubled and delays were no surprise. After all the studio hails from Kyiv, Ukraine and they have suffered so much as a country. Hopefully, we get more information soon. It’s one game I am eagerly awaiting to play. When the game was on track it did list multiple editions with one edition offering a couple of expansions down the line. We don’t know if this is still the case. We’ve seen reports of a port to console for the original game yet nothing has yet been confirmed or denied.
