One of the more intriguing titles shown from the PS5 reveal in June was Square Enix’s Project Athia. Today, during Square Enix’s Presents, Luminous Productions shared another look into the 2022 title. Alongside this new look, we also have ourselves the final name of the project: Forspoken, coming to PS5 and PC.
So, What Do We Know About Square Enix’s Forspoken on PS5
Coupled with the title reveal, we also have a few tidbits of info to sink our teeth into. For example, we know the main character, named Frey Holland, is played by Ella Balinska. The basic synopsis for her character, tells us some bit of information as well.
an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in the fantastical yet dangerous land of Athia.
Players can expect a ‘magical and perilous journey,’ which supports what the trailer showed. Firstly, we get to see how varied the environments look in this new action RPG from Square. As well as a glimpse into the character of Frey as she encounters a dragon for instance. Yet, most intriguing of all was the traversal system.
Something which Takeshi Aramaki, director of Forspoken, expressed on the PlayStation Blog. Saying, “I can’t wait for players to experience firsthand just how satisfying it feels to move through Athia, scaling cliffs, and leaping across ravines in the future.” Once you’ve taken a look for yourself, it’s hard to disagree with how energetic and intoxicating the movement looks. Couple this with what looks to be an engaging narrative and we might have ourselves something to look forward to.
