During the latest global Nintendo Switch 2 showcase, Square Enix shared updates on three RPG titles—Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. Each game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other major platforms, with new trailers and gameplay details revealed during the event.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven – Switch 2 Version Now Available
A Nintendo Switch 2 version of Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, the full 3D remake of the 1993 classic, is now available for purchase. This updated edition features faster loading times, improved visuals, and refined gameplay. Players with the original Nintendo Switch version can purchase an upgrade pack to access the new version on Switch 2.
Originally released in 2023, the game follows a multi-generational storyline in which players defend and grow an empire while facing off against the Seven Heroes in tactical turn-based battles. Developed by the team behind the Trials of Mana remake, the game includes reworked visuals, a rearranged soundtrack option, adjustable difficulty settings, and a demo with transferable save data.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles Gets New Trailer
Square Enix also unveiled a new trailer for Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, a refreshed version of the tactical RPG first released in the late 1990s. The trailer revisits the story of two childhood friends caught on opposite sides of a political conflict in the Kingdom of Ivalice.
The upcoming release will feature expanded dialogue and other enhancements designed to immerse players further in the game’s medieval-inspired setting. The game is scheduled for release on multiple platforms this fall, including both Nintendo Switch models, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Adds Playable Character
In a Japan-only segment of the Nintendo Direct, a new trailer for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake revealed that the Princess of Cannock will be a playable character in Dragon Quest II. While the Princess appeared in the original title, this marks her first time as a fully controllable party member.
The trailer also included new gameplay footage showcasing the HD-2D visual style, a hallmark of Square Enix’s recent retro-modern remakes.
