Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as the much-anticipated Japanese Assassin’s Creed game, formerly known as “Codename Red,” has been officially unveiled as Assassin’s Creed Shadows. With a release date set and various editions available for purchase, players can look forward to immersing themselves in this latest installment. Following the success of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which took the series back to its roots, Shadows promises to return to the expansive open-world format reminiscent of the acclaimed Origins, with Odyssey and Valhalla serving as benchmarks for the scale of the game world.

While the setting of Shadows and the presence of dual playable characters have been teased, one intriguing detail has surfaced: the implementation of seasonal weather changes. In a recent interview with IGN, it was revealed that the open world will progress through the four seasons, each bringing its own unique weather conditions and terrain transformations. This dynamic seasonal shift promises to impact gameplay, adding an exciting layer of environmental diversity and challenges to the Assassin’s Creed experience. Drawing inspiration from the Forza Horizon series, this innovative feature aims to create a more immersive and ever-changing world for players to explore.

What Else The World Of Assassin’s Creed Shadows Offers

So those who preferred the smaller scale of Origins to that of Odyssey we can bring good news. We get told that the region in this game is of similar size to the Egyptian setting in Origins. However here we are to expect a more realistic scale ratio according to the game’s creative director Jonathan Dumont

Because castles took a lot of space, and we really wanted the mountains to feel like mountains, [we’ve made] the environments feel wider in the game.

So are you looking forward to the future of the franchise due this November? As always we love hearing your thoughts so why not get in touch with us and share them with us? We also expect to see more of this game this Summer at the next Ubisoft Forward showcase.
