Hopefully you have been saving your coins and don’t have to pay Tom Nook back any time soon, because the floodgates for video games are opening. September 2026 video game releases will go down in history for big-name games. Bandai Namco, Capcom, and many indie developers—they magically are all releasing something worth buying this month. From vampire third-person action adventure to running a store filled with items from local dungeons, there is sure to be a game for you. Below are some of the standout titles that I will most likely add to my infinite backlog.
Crimson Moon ($19.99)

I did not play this game at Summer Game Fest 2026, but some folks from the LV1 Gaming team said it had a lot of potential. Crimson Moon, developed and published by ProbablyMonsters, is an online co-op action RPG where you are a Nephilim defending humanity. You are taking on the hordes of hell made up of a nightmarish grabbag of monsters and demons. Kicking off the month of games, you can pick up Crimson Moon on September 1 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
The Blood of Dawnwalker ($69.99)

A vampire open-world action RPG—sign me up ASAP! The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco, puts you in the shoes of a man who is both human and vampire. With a limited amount of time, you will choose to fight for humanity or embrace your new vampiric powers to save your loved ones. Balance the powers of day and night in The Blood of Dawnwalker, releasing September 3 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword ($69.99)

Capcom has been firing on all cylinders in 2026, and this latest entry in one of its iconic franchises continues the trend. Onimusha: Way Of The Sword, a dark fantasy action game set in an alternate Edo-era Kyoto, Japan. The main character, Musashi, finds himself in possession of a powerful Oni Gauntlet that helps him defeat the underworld monsters known as Genma. Be ready to use Musashi’s samurai skills alongside mystical oni powers on September 4 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Halloween: The Game ($39.99)

One night a year, you have to be on the look out for Michael Myers. Developed and published by Illfonic, Halloween: The Game brings the classic movie series Halloween to video game life. In this 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer, you can take control of a “Hero of Haddonfield” to work together to save as many people as possible. Or you can go on a murder spree as the boogeyman himself, Michael Myers, and terrorize the townsfolk of Haddonfield. Halloween starts early this year on September 8; you can get your hands on Halloween: The Game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave ($69.99)

The iconic tactical RPG series gets another entry exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, Fire Emblem: Fortunes’s Weave. Using time travel, power bestowed by gods, and four playable protagonists across the ages, you will gather enough power to defeat the demon god Balor. You will get to determine the fate of Dagsion and the world in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on September 17 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Control Resonant ($59.99)

Control Resonant picks up the story right after the events of Remedy Entertainment’s 2019 Control, thrusting you back into the Federal Bureau of Control. This time you are playing as the FBC director’s brother, Dylan Faden, and will be using fast-paced melee combat to defeat paranatural threats. The dangers contained within the Oldest House have also spilled out into Manhattan, warping everything. With Dylan’s new powers, you will find your sister and save New York in Control Resonant. It will be available September 24 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Silent Hill: Townfall ($49.99)

Silent Hill is taking its historic horror franchise and changing the point of view in Silent Hill: Townfall. The fog and the scares are back but in first-person for the first time in the series. This upcoming psychological horror takes place in St. Amelia, Scotland, and you are looking for your wife in this seemingly empty town. Prep to dive into this survival horror, Silent Hill: Townfall, September 24, on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Marvel’s Wolverine ($69.99)

And of course Insomniac Games’ first Marvel superhero title that is not a webslinger, Marvel’s Wolverine, is also releasing in September. This action-adventure game takes place during Logan’s time with Team X and pits him against Trask, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and a few other classic Wolverine enemies. I’m looking forward to seeing how Insomniac blends together the visceral violence and emotional story of Wolverine. This high-octane, action-packed, elite-cutscene-filled action adventure game, Marvel’s Wolverine, will be available on PlayStation 5 on September 15.
This is going to be an extra expensive holiday season for the gamer in your life.
