Sagat Enters the Arena in Street Fighter 6 on August 5 Across All Platforms
Capcom has announced that Sagat, one of the most iconic fighters in Street Fighter history, will join the Street Fighter 6 roster on August 5, 2025. The veteran Muay Thai master arrives as the first Year 3 DLC character, marking the start of a new content cycle for the game on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
As a returning character and former final boss from the original Street Fighter, Sagat’s reappearance brings a blend of nostalgia and fresh gameplay mechanics. His moveset incorporates signature Muay Thai techniques such as uppercuts, knee strikes, and long-range kicks, alongside his trademark fireballs.
Sagat’s release coincides with the debut of a new stage titled Proud Spire, a serene temple backdrop that visually contrasts with the fighter’s aggressive style.
Muay Thai Powerhouse With New Tricks
Sagat’s arsenal in Street Fighter 6 includes a variety of classic and new attacks:
- High Tiger Shot and Low Tiger Shot: Ki blasts tailored for different ranges and opponent stances
- Tiger Uppercut: A fierce anti-air move, with a heavy version that can launch enemies
- Tiger Knee Crush: A leaping knee strike used to catch opponents off guard
- Tiger Nexus: A new special move that chains into follow-ups like Mighty Tiger, Greedy Tiger, or Nova Tiger
Sagat’s Super Arts range from the explosive Tiger Cannon (Level 1) to the punishing Tiger Vanquisher (Level 3), which unleashes a rapid sequence of kicks followed by a crushing uppercut.
Players eager to try him early can do so at EVO 2025, where Sagat will be playable on the show floor at Capcom’s booth from August 1–3 in Las Vegas.
Two Outfits, One King
Sagat launches with two distinct outfits:
- Outfit 1: A darker, modernized Muay Thai design
- Outfit 2: A faithful recreation of his classic Street Fighter II look, featuring shorts and traditional wraps
Outfit 2 can be unlocked in the World Tour mode by maxing out your bond with Sagat or can be purchased using Fighter Coins.
Year 3 Content Roadmap and More
Sagat’s release kicks off the Street Fighter 6 Year 3 Character Pass, which also includes:
- C. Viper – Autumn 2025
- Alex – Early Spring 2026
- Ingrid – Late Spring 2026
- Additional Outfit colors and Drive Tickets
Both the Year 3 Character Pass and Year 3 Ultimate Pass are currently available on all major platforms, with pre-orders open on Nintendo Switch 2.
Other Upcoming Additions
Capcom is also expanding the game’s fashion options with the Outfit 4 “Hot Fighter Summer” swimsuit collection, releasing alongside Sagat for seven characters: Cammy, Luke, Chun-Li, Manon, Jamie, Kimberly, and A.K.I.
Additionally, players can still enjoy the æspa collaboration, which brings K-pop aesthetics into the game with Juri’s æspa-inspired Outfit 4 and Real-Time Commentator nævis. The themed Battle Hub remains decorated through August 4.
With a combination of refined gameplay, nostalgic flair, and future-forward content planning, Street Fighter 6 continues to evolve in Year 3, starting with the return of the Emperor himself.
