RuneScape: Dragonwilds—The Next Entry In A Beloved Series

RuneScape is a franchise we’ve not mentioned recently; in fact, it’s been some years since we did. However, we have some news to share with you courtesy of developer Jagex. They are “thrilled to announce a brand-new adventure” and one that is set in the popular RuneScape universe. The latest entry is known as RuneScape: Dragonwilds. More positive news for fans is that this entry will be available very soon. Jagex has confirmed that it will be “launching into Steam Early Access in Spring 2025.” Soon, you will be ready to “explore the forgotten continent of Ashenfall” and “wield powerful and transformative magic.” Not only that, but you also need to get ready to “craft, battle, and thrive in this survival co-op adventure.”

So, what do we know about the latest game in the franchise? Well, Jagex revealed on March 31st that RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world survival game. Let’s look at some of the key points from the press release about this upcoming adventure.

The premise of the game, as described on Steam, tells us that in “RuneScape’s forgotten continent of Ashenfall, dragons have awoken.” So we will need to survive and defeat the Dragon Queen. This means we need to gather resources, build, and craft, as this is a cooperative survival crafting game.

Wield wild, transformative magic to survive and level up skills to overcome challenges in this brand-new adventure powered by Unreal Engine 5. Explore a stunning, hand-crafted landscape infused with magical energy in an adventure that blends high fantasy with light RPG elements and iconic RuneScape lore.
