A Roguelike with Space Bears, Magic, and Guns, OH MY!
Commander Tiberius Troubleson is an exciting side-scrolling action roguelike, coming in early 2025. The fast-paced platformer delivers frantic action, blending gunplay and magic into pure bliss. It has been one of the best roguelike experiences I have found on Steam. The stunning world of Anarth awaits you!
Each level has been hand crafted, filled with secrets, spells, and the infamous space bear. As I explored each level, every chest, enemy, and mana pump I encountered felt expertly placed. Each passing second increases the danger of the level, displayed by a Threat Level. I’m torn between trying to beat the level in a speedy manner, and bringing space justice to the horde of enemies.
The Gameplay Loop
Like any traditional roguelike you’ll explore levels, fight hordes of enemies, collect spells, and find secrets if you explore enough. Collect gems to purchase new spells, unlock permanent upgrades, and mana gems to give you a stat boost during a run.
Each level you encounter in the demo will provide a new set of enemies for you to defeat. Giant Yetis, Space Bears, Turrets, and Ghosts are just some of the enemies that await you. Each enemy has their own unique method of attack, keeping you on your toes. You will need to adapt your playstyle to properly deal with them, and this is part of the charm that makes the game stand out as such an incredible experience.
Final Thoughts
I’ve played hundreds of roguelike titles on Steam, and Commander Tiberius Troubleson is one of the titles I have found myself returning to consistently. It fulfills my want for a fast paced action platformer in ways that no other game has managed to do. I think it’s truly one of the best experiences on Steam, and I can’t wait to see the game’s full release early next year!
