Superhero games have had a recent run of success. We’ve seen Insomniac being us Spider-Man with the sequel coming starring Venom. Last year at DC FanDome we saw the reveal for the upcoming game Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. What we saw is the likes of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark seemingly in a face-off against a very different Superman.
Fast forward to this year and the Suicide Squad is back at the DC FanDome with a new trailer. Though the event is still continuing we only saw a story trailer with no idea of how the gameplay will look. However, the game is by Rocksteady who is more well known for the Batman Arkham trilogy. So a third-person adventure like that series is what we would expect but implement the game’s co-op gameplay. We just know is the game is set for a 2022 launch.
What the new trailer revealed.
We got another look at the famous quartet in Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad. We also got another look at a very evil Superman who we saw in the reveal trailer killing a pilot. This trailer gave us a first look at Penquin, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern.
The plot of the game is taking more shape. Amanda Waller has placed bombs in the heads of the games quartet. This is is ensure their cooperation on the mission at hand, kill the Justice League in exchange for a full pardon. It seems that the Justice League has been corrupted by an alien force.
Last year Eurogamer reported that Sefton Hill the co-founder of Rocksteady confirmed this is following on from their Arkham trilogy. They also revealed the game is in Metropolis. As always we love hearing your views on the news. Were you a fan of the Arkham games and waiting for this? Either way please get in touch and let us know.
