Rockstar is without a doubt a name we have all heard of. They have given us some of the most iconic games of all time. They may not release a game as frequently as other devs sometimes only once a decade. However, when do release a game it is an absolute event. Most notably we have Red Dead Redemption for example and its sequel/prequel with Red Dead Redemption 2. Not to mention that their flagship title, GTA V, is one of, if not the biggest-selling game of all time ever. That game launched well over ten years ago for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was then brought to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and now hitting the third generation in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Love it or hate it GTA V sells.
Rockstar currently is working on the next entry with GTA 6. We saw a major leak for the game late last year and it was big news. However, in the meantime, we’ve seen a remastered trilogy of classic GTA games with the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This bundle includes GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and the most popular, GTA San Andreas. However, it was absolutely broken and buggy at launch. This was poorly executed and hurt its potential, causing it to not be a success, which may have killed hopes of a Red Dead Redemption remake and a next-gen upgrade for Red Dead 2. With that being said, what plans, if any, are after GTA 6?
What Else Could Rockstar Do?
An article by Games Radar posts an interesting discovery. The discovery involved Rockstar character artist Pawas Saxena, as he posted something on LinkedIn which has since been edited. It seems they were working on a title thought to be long since canceled by the company, Project Medieval. Games Radar links the Reddit post stating Saxena was “creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architectural style”. The article by Games Radar is from September, with a video I saw found this month and posted below.
It’s an exciting story, as I’m a huge fan of the era. As well as a huge fan of RPGs in that setting like Kingdom Come Deliverance. I’m hoping there’s some truth to this story. As always what are your thoughts?
