ReSetna Returns With Fan Input

ReSetna

We’ve seen a few Metroidvania games released or about to be released. Fans of Metroidvania games may have seen ReSetna on Steam at the start of the year. The game had a rocky start, but the developers acknowledged its shortcomings and worked hard to relaunch it. Currently, the game has been relaunched on Steam at a discounted price. The developer claims that they have made “massive improvements” and that their players have reworked the game. Therefore, the developer of today’s version of the game has taken feedback from players on board. In the past month, they have rolled out 14 updates to improve the game.

Since the relaunch, they tell us they have been “in direct communication with players, actively engaging with them trying to get feedback”. Meaning it has allowed them to “shape the game the way gamers want it to be, every single review and suggestion entered the development backlog, creating a big list of suggested improvements.” Examples of improvements and fixes include the following.

  • Addition of a mini map
  • Major level redesigns (such as Xynexis’s chase scene and a reworked final boss fight).

The relaunch, including the ReSetna Ruby Armour Upgrade, is shown in the most recent trailer. However, please note that the sale on Steam may no longer be active.

What is ReSetna About And What Has Changed

So, to answer that fully, this is what we have from the developers about their debut release.

The world has fallen silent. Organic life is gone, and what remains of humanity lingers in machines – minds trapped in circuits, struggling to find purpose in a dying world.

You are awakened as ReSetna, an advanced automaton with a mission: to save the last human minds before they are lost forever. But the world is hostile. Machines have gone mad, turning the ruins into a battlefield.

ReSetna is a fast-paced action-adventure with intense combat and seven zones with unique art.

The game brings something unique: you can shape your playstyle with the Chip Upgrade System. Slot Tetris-shaped chips into a grid to unlock abilities, boost attacks and sharpen movement.

Want to hit harder? Stack Weapon chips. Need more speed? Mix Ability chips. Prefer hacking over brute force? Go all-in on Hack chips.

The way you place chips changes how you fight, unlocking even more powerful combos to take on corrupted machines.

Now for the changes to the game itself in this latest update

Visual & Environment Upgrades:

  • Resetna is now playable with a new “Ruby Armor” skin. This option can be toggled through the Character menu if, at any point, you wish to return to the default skin
  • Environment revamp with new visual effects and background elements, backed up with new, immersive sound effects
  • The final boss fight is now conceptually better with a brand new cut scene before the start of the fight
  • New UI effects that enhance the player’s experience and reduce previous confusion

Combat upgrades:

  • All weapons are improved, more responsive and enjoyable: animations and combos have been re-made and optimized for player’s experience
  • Axe combo now has fast responsive chain of attacks, Sabre’s attacks are now much more enjoyable and responsive with its parry-counterattack and in-air attacks, Naginata has also been reworked to feel more impactful and heavier
  • Lesser projectiles from most basic enemies are now reflectable – the player is now able to avoid annoying ranged attacks, reflect them and still do a strong parry-counterattack while doing that

Other Upgrades:

  • Key rebinding, a very much requested feature, is finally here! Players will now be able to customize their input keys, as well as choose from presets when playing on controllers
  • Side quests now feel more useful, giving rewards and upgrades, making exploration worthwhile
  • Settings user experience has been improved by adding an “Apply changes” key to avoid setting application at each change
