Black Lantern Collective revealed release dates for two upcoming indie horror titles. Both titles have very cool retro vibes. Horriplant is set to drop on Steam on February 13th, 2026. Mourning Tide follows on April 30th, 2026. Demos for both titles are available to check out now.
Old School Dungeon Crawling!
Here’s a quick rundown on the first Black Lantern Collective upcoming title. Right off the bat, Horriplant reminds me of the old-school Dungeons & Dragons games from the early PC/NES era of gaming. It’s a first-person dungeon crawler where you fight, mine, and puzzle your way through the depths of a forgotten underworld. It’s got some horror vibes – there’s a mushroom monster in the trailer that looks right out of one of those creepypasta videos.
Horriplant Features
- Incrementally gain and collect materials.
- Combat horrific foes in the dungeon.
- Solve puzzles and explore the depths of your camp.
- Upgrade your gear to venture deeper.
- Meet god and gain strong boons.
I Think This Makes Fishing Horror a Genre
Next up from Black Lantern Collective, we’ve got Mourning Tide. It’s a first-person fishing horror game with PSX graphics. Going off the trailer, it feels like you will start off catching fairly normal-looking fish, and pretty soon, the fish start resembling something out of cosmic horror. The Steam description lists a lot of content warnings, so this looks like it’ll be a pretty heavy game story-wise.
Mourning Tide Features
- Atmosphere & PSX-style Graphics – Immerse yourself in a hauntingly nostalgic world with PSX-inspired visuals that enhance the eerie atmosphere of the game.
- Fishing Mechanics – Cast your line into the dark waters, where the sea tests your coordination while pulling you deeper into madness.
- Dark, Gripping Linear Story – Unravel a tragic tale of guilt, loss, and redemption, where the past is never far behind and the sea holds secrets that may never let you go.
- An Entirely New Experience of Mourning Tide – Featuring 1 hour of gameplay.
