Redfall is one of the most anticipated Xbox Series X and S games, set to come out in the first half of 2023. Developed by Arkane Studios, the title is a cooperative shooter set in a vampiric-inspired universe. In an exclusive interview with GamesRadar, Harvey Smith and Ricardo Bare from Arkane shared some juicy new information about the game.
Redfall is said to be an unfathomably larger open-world space than Arkane’s previous game, Prey. In Redfall, players will be able to explore a home base, where they can talk to NPCs, take on side quests, and gain new abilities. The game also promises a classic Arkane experience that blends combat, weapons, and stealth.
In addition to the expansive open world, Redfall will also feature a unique co-op experience. Players will be able to team up with up to three other players and take on the game’s undead enemies. The game will also have a progression system, where players will be able to level up and acquire new weapons, abilities, and items.
The team at Arkane has been working on the game for several years, and they talked to GamesRadar about the development process. According to Harvey Smith, the studio wanted to take a familiar setting and go deep into it. He also mentioned that the team wanted to stretch out and attempt something different. Which is why they decided to combine an open-world and cooperative multiplayer experience.

Ricardo Bare, the creative director for Redfall, also shared his thoughts on the game. He said that while the game may seem similar to Left 4 Dead, the gameplay experience is much different. Instead, he believes the game is more like a Far Cry title, where players will be able to explore and take on missions at their own pace.

Overall, Arkane Studios’ upcoming Redfall looks promising. The game is bound to be a hit thanks to its expansive open world, innovative co-op mode, and trademark Arkane mix of combat and stealth.
