Hypercharge: Unboxed Review John Marston PC Bound In Red Dead Redemption? Pine Harbor Out In Early Access – How It Looks At Alpha Stage Shadows Offering An Interesting Assassin’s Creed Open World Lara Croft And The Future Of The Tomb Raider Franchise

A few days ago we reported that a remake or remaster of Quake was accidentally leaked by a description for one of the QuakeCon chats with Digital Foundry. We saw it advertising “Quake is back” before promptly being removed.

So what happened with this leak?

Nothing much until a few days later another leak appeared. This time an ESRB listing for Quake appeared. As we know they provide ratings to classify if an upcoming release is suitable. So we had this on top of the removed description. Meaning it was highly likely this Quake was appearing but it was just a case of what for and when.

Do we know what it’s launching on?

We do indeed going on the premise the ESRB listing is correct. And usually, it is as we’ve seen a few leaks via this. More recently this was how we found out about the Ghost of Tsushima expansion when a director’s cut was spotted. So Quake will be launching on:

  • PC
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • Nintendo Switch

So do we know anymore such as if it’s coming?

Pure Xbox posted confirming the release as accurate. And we know what is offered. This isn’t just a simple remaster either, as, in addition to the (up to) 4K resolution and improved visuals. You also get original and new expansion packs, free user-created mods and missions, xCloud portability, and local and online multiplayer for up to 8 players (co-op for up to 4 players). With dedicated server support for online matchmaking as well.

Additionally, the game will be getting a free next-gen upgrade in the near future, with details “coming soon”.

No mention yet as to whether PlayStation 5 gets a free upgrade. As the Quake series is now Microsoft-owned and they also own Hellblade which received no upgraded PlayStation 5 release.

What about a release date?

We have a release date. We can’t even say it’s coming soon as it’s not. If you wish to play Quake then it’s available right now and is also available on Game Pass. It’s available to buy and is priced at $9.99/£7.99. For those on PC also available today are Quake 2 and Quake 3 Arena and will be in Game Pass for PC.
