Via the PlayStation Blog, Sony has confirmed that PS5’s will only be sold online and not in store. With mere days away from launch, we have a few new tidbits of information regarding pre-orders from retailers.
As per usual with console launches, gamers will line up outside of retailers, hours before they’re open. But, thanks to the current climate of the world, gamers aren’t exactly afforded that same tradition this time. Instead, gamers will have a chance to snag their console on a retailers site on release day. The heads up definitely is appreciated, especially for those who weren’t successful in grabbing their new console in September. Sony says,

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region.) Please donโt plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online. For those lucky enough to have actually gotten a pre order, Sony addresses that as well. The blog urges those to confirm details with their retailer for PS5’s sold online. As long as you can follow your retailers safety precautions and make your scheduled appointment, you should get your pre-order. The PlayStation 5 releases on November 12th and November 19th this year.
