Ubisoft is in the news again. We’ve seen reports of a leaked big Ubisoft Forward event and also a look at the gameplay of Skull and Bones in an alpha. We still have a couple of titles that seem to be standing still in their development. One is Beyond Beyond Good & Evil 2 which was announced in 2017. The other is one revealed in September 2020. That game is Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake
The Sands of Time Remake was originally set to launch in January 2021. Just prior to release was delayed briefly till March and then delayed indefinitely. Now looking at the official website we still see the March release date. However, the development no longer lists Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. So what we see is Ubisoft Montreal heading up development
Where The Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Stands
An announcement on Twitter from Ubisoft confirmed the change. Ubisoft Montreal also developed the original game. So hopefully they can get some footage out soon, maybe at this rumored Ubisoft Forward. This is the official announcement from Ubisoft.
This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it’s ready.
Certainly, retailers didn’t expect the original delay. They had preorder bonuses up ready. Obviously, development is progressing but how much so its hard to say. So when this finally releases will you be jumping in or are you steering clear of this.
