Carnage Makes Its Way To Starship Troopers: Extermination Three Upcoming Indies From Dune: Awakening, An Alternate Timeline & MMO A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead Brings The Franchise To Gamers Dysmantle – An Underrated Survival Game That Needs Played

For those who have not podcasted with me or ran into me at an in-person event. It is safe to say I am excited for an upcoming indie game called Mirthwood. Now let’s give some quick background into how I found out about this game. So boom, I am checking my emails before PAX West 2023 and I see an image of a hunter/rogue walking down a wooded path, with the word Mirthwood across it.

I almost skipped past it (thank RNGesus I didn’t), clicked a link, and then my mind was opened like Dr Strange.

What Is Mirthwood?

Mirthwood is developed by Bad Ridge Games and published by V Publishing. It is a farming sim, sandbox, immersive RPG, and this is just the surface. This game is a full-on medieval fantasy world that you can live in however you see fit. Do you want to have a medieval Stardew Valley experience and farm for endless seasons, do it. Or maybe you want to take on the adventuring life and save a few townsfolk, do it. Well maybe you want to tap into that inner town deviant and become a nuisance to all NPCs you meet, do it!

  • Homestead – build a farm, plant and harvest crops, rear animals, and upgrade your facilities to craft items and gear
  • Explore – explore an open world comprised of six diverse regions and three distinct towns, with much to discover
  • Fight – take up a sword or ready your bow in real-time combat, Mirthwood will pit you against a variety of enemies
  • Adventure – embark on quests, encounter dynamic events, and investigate mysteries across the world
  • Socialize – meet and befriend (or insult) any NPC, and unlock new social interactions as your relationships grow

Cozy Life Trailer Reaction

This game at first glance has a cute vibrant hand-drawn design. That looks like it will be just another farming sim with light combat. Nope, imagine Fable NPC interactions, Bethesda RPG immersion, and Stardew Valley farming, mixed with an almost popup book-designed world. That is Mirthwood, and I believe it will be a big hit with so many different gaming communities. I had a chance to get hands-on with it at PAX West 2023 and there is even a demo available now on Steam. There is no official release date yet but it has Qtr 3 2024 planned release window. Watch the PAX West 2023 below and make sure to wishlist this game.
