If you’re still working your way through Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a new release may interest you. The Pokémon Company dropped news of it’s upcoming games in the franchise. So let’s introduce
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

They were announced earlier today at the recent Pokémon Presents. For those interested the full fourteen minute presentation is available here. However the trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet is shown below and they are set to launch later this year.

What to expect from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

It seems we have some countryside and city locations. But it seems they appear inspired by Portuguese and Spanish architecture according to this post on Twitter. We also get alot of Pokémon, including three new starting Pokémon who are the following.

Sprigatito

Category: Grass Cat Pokémon
Height: 1′4″
Weight: 9 lbs.
Type: Grass
Ability: Overgrow

The capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon.

Fuecoco

Category: Fire Croc Pokémon
Height: 1′4″
Weight: 21.6 lbs.
Type: Fire
Ability: Blaze

The laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace.

Quaxly

Category: Duckling Pokémon
Height: 1′8″
Weight: 13.4 lbs.
Type: Water
Ability: Torrent

The earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon.

The trailer description suggests the core Pokémon games could be seeing a change of style. It appears that like Arceus, these games are going to be open world.

January saw Pokémon Legends: Arceus and just prior we saw back in November the remakes for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. And previous we saw Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

So with a busy schedule for the Pokémon Company the games have come fairly regularly. Will these interest you or has Arceus put you off the franchise being more open? But either way we’d love to hear from you about your thoughts on this upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon!
