Event Breakdown

During PlayStation’s latest State of Play, they showed off a variety of new titles releasing in 2022/2023. We are here today to break down all that was shown.



Opening the event. A new game announcement coming from Capcom that is expected to be released in 2023 for the PS5/4. In this trailer we see players getting into mech-like suites akin to the style of Anthem. Each one of these suites has its own ability and you will use those abilities to combat dinosaurs in this coop shooter. Exoprimal will also be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

GhostWire: Tokyo

GhostWire: Tokyo makes another appearance right before its March 25th launch date. Showing off the protagonists Akito’s powers and abilities in this new cinematic/gameplay trailer. Ghostwire: Tokyo is exclusive to the PS5 and PC.

Stanger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

We got a new cinematic trailer for Stanger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Players can check out a new demo released today before the game’s release on March 18th.


Forspoken received a new showing. New gameplay and a cinematic trailer showing off Frey’s combat and abilities. Visual improvements are the highlight here. The game looks to be shaping up and improving over its last gameplay debut.

Gundam Evolution

Gundam Evolution is a 6v6 First Person Multiplayer title. There will be a network test in the Spring of 2022 for players in the US and Japan. In the trailer, we see a lot of the abilities you will be able to use in your Gundam. Gundam Evolution will also release on Xbox platforms and PC.

TMNT Cowabunga Edition

One of the more interesting showings at the event. Was the announcement of the TMNT Cowabunga Edition. A collection of a variety of TMNT games that have been released in the past. From what we could see in the showing it looks like the titles that will be available in this collection are:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Tournament Fighters
  • The Arcade Game
  • Turtles in Time
  • Back from the Sewer
  • Fall of the Foot Clan
  • The Manhattan Project
  • Radical Rescue
  • The Hyper Stone
  • and much more

This collection will be releasing sometime in 2022. Available on PS5/4/Xbox/Nintendo Switch.

Giga Bash

A top-down monster fighter “Giga Bash.” Was announced for 2022. Exclusive to PS5/4 and PC.

JoJo’s All Star Battle: Bizzare Adventures.

A fan-favorite fighting game makes its return on all Platforms. With 50 playable characters at launch and an early Fall 2022 release window. Fighting game fans will be in for a treat.

Trek to Yomi

Coming this Spring is a new game from Devolver Digital. A Noire-style samurai game. The gameplay reminded me of Sifu to some degree. The sword combat that was shown off in the gameplay was brutal, to say the least. Trek of Yomi will also be launching onto Xbox Platforms as well as Xbox Game Pass when it releases.

Returnal COOP!

Returnal is getting a campaign coop and a new Tower mode. The Ascension 3.0 update will be releasing March 22nd this year.

The DioField Chronicle

The DioField Chronicle is a new Tactical RPG from Square Enix. The game will be released in 2022 and be available on PS5/4, Xbox Platforms, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Valkyrie Elysium

Closing out PlayStation’s State of Play was Valkyrie Elysium from Square Enix. Exclusive to the PS5/4 and PC is a brand new title. Coming out in 2022 we get a close-up look of the gameplay and the character you play named Valkyrie and an overview of how Ragnarok tears their world apart. The stylistic hack and slash game looks to be something to keep an eye out for in the future.
