PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced – What Games Are Affected?

PlayStation 5 Pro

It’s safe to assume that you are aware of the upcoming mid-gen refresh for Sony hardware. If not, it’s the PlayStation 5 Pro, which was revealed last month. The list of enhanced games on the PlayStation 5 Pro is expanding as its launch approaches. However, let’s take a moment to review the features that the console offers, specifically the PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced titles.

Without a doubt, the best source is the PlayStation Blog post itself, which followed the release details. They assert that they developed the console with “deeply engaged players and game creators in mind.” Sony further states that they have received numerous requests for hardware capable of delivering “higher fidelity graphics with smoother frame rates at 60FPS.” So how was this achieved? In addition, this is what we see in the same post.

  • Upgraded GPU: With PS5 Pro, we are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
  • Advanced Ray Tracing: We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
  • AI-Driven Upscaling: We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.

But what are developers improving in their games to warrant it earning the description of PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced?

However, it appears that not all games are utilizing the hardware to boost their framerates. Indeed, some developers are using the hardware to make games look better. For instance, consider the addition of ray-traced support to Alan Wake 2.
