Around a year ago I happened to bring you some news of a unique new survival game that caught my eye, Pacific Drive. We’ve seen a few games about surviving in jungles with Green Hell or even The Forest and its sequel Sons of the Forest. I have also dove into the waters of Subnautica and Stranded Deep looking for adventure, and even played the GOAT Minecraft in my exploration of different survival worlds. When I first brought you news of the upcoming Pacific Drive, it was offering a unique take on the survival genre. Instead of the usual grind and base building this time, we’re scavenging for supplies to maintain and improve our means of surviving. We use our trusty station wagon which we also need to repair and maintain as time goes by. From keeping bodywork intact to making sure you have fuel this car is our lifeblood and the only way we can make it in this strange and hostile world. I wanted to dive into this now that the demo is officially out from Steam Next Fest and see what is on offer.

More information on the game can be found here on the official website. The game is set to launch on February 22nd and will be on PC and PlayStation 5 very soon even though there was a slight delay previously. Pacific Drive can be pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store and for PC it can be purchased via Steam or the Epic Store. In a nice surprise until launch, it will be available with a 10% discount on all listed platforms.

A Road Trip Worth Remembering?

As I mentioned this was a game I was interested in for a bit and seeing it have a demo at Next Fest I just knew I had to jump on it. Below is some gameplay I captured from my time with Pacific Drive.

Pacific Drive is really shaping up to be an interesting game once it’s fully released. Visually I like the style so it’s something that spoke to me and it was easy on the eyes to play. It had tons of details not just about the world but also in the environment you will spend most of your time: The Car. I had to siphon fuel, rebuild and repair parts, and look for the resources. Car tires need to be monitored as a flat tire in danger zones could be bad news for you and the people relying on you. Overall the game is showing promise and the potential is there. I can’t wait to see what the game will offer when it’s fully out but consider me impressed. I recommend you give Pacific Drive a look if you have some spare time and are looking for another survival game with a twist. Stay tuned for more from Lv1 Gaming!
