We’ve seen news of screen adaptations of Sony IPs coming to the big screen. We have an upcoming Gran Turismo movie project and for the small screen, we have Horizon Zero Dawn getting a prequel series. Alongside this, we have an upcoming God of War series and HBO is getting a TV series about The Last of Us. Moreover, we have news of an older franchise making its way from arcades to the big screen. Pixelated ghost and fruit beware, we are getting a Pac-Man movie.
This is not the first time a classic game has been adapted for the big screen. We’ve seen older franchises treated similarly, with Battleship being a recent example. Also, this isn’t Pac-first Man’s appearance on the big screen; we saw him in Adam Sandler’s Pixels.
Pac-Man The Movie And What We Know
According to the Hollywood Reporter, we know the following
The project hails from Bandai Namco Entertainment — the company behind Pac-Man, as well as games like Galaga and Tekken — and Wayfarer Studios, the production company founded by Justin Baldoni and Steve Sarowitz.
Chuck Williams of Lightbeam Entertainment came up with the idea for the film. He also produced the recent live-action adventures for Sonic the Hedgehog. The production for Wayfarer Studios is to be handled by Justin Baldoni, Andrew Calof, and Manu Gargi. Williams himself along with Tim Kwok is handling the production for Lightbeam Entertainment. So will this be a film you would be interested to see, or is it one you’ll avoid? However you feel, why not get in touch and share your thoughts with us?
