Gamers are eagerly awaiting the sequel to the epic space tale Outer Worlds by Obsidian but in the meantime, the original received an upgrade. This upgrade was specifically for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. We brought this to your attention before and now the upgrade is fully out. The full release is called The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice Edition. The original game launched on Game Pass but to get the upgrade you need to actually own not only the base game but all the expansions as well.
That’s not all, there’s a small fee to upgrade. Oh and don’t forget the upgrade is not on Game Pass at all. I have seen some unhappiness at this with the game being developed by a Microsoft studio. It may be developed by Obsidian but it is not a Microsoft-published product, it’s by Private Division. However since they upgraded the game there has been a few complaints and according to VGC, players think the original game actually performs better than the new Spacers Choice Edition.
The Response From Obsidian
There was a post on Reddit by an Obsidian player support representative it seems to be legitimate and the official response on Reddit was
I am sorry that you all have been experiencing performance issues with The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition.
I understand how frustrating this can be, and I assure you the team at Private Division is working on getting a patch out as soon as possible.
If you run into any other issues while playing the game, please feel free to submit a support ticket to Private Division. They are the dedicated support for The Outer Worlds, and we’re doing our best to funnel all of the information to them, so they can find solutions as quickly as possible.

If you’re curious about an example of why fans aren’t happy
Hopefully this gets rectified sooner rather than later. Did you pick this upgrade up? If so we’d love to hear your thoughts on what the game is like. It would seem that for now, it’s maybe best to stick with the version that launched a few years ago. It’s not the only bad news Private Division has as well. According to this article by Games Industry.biz, Take-Two are now laying off some staff Private Division as well as some of their other divisions. Adding the news of a not-so-positive launch for The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice Edition could not have come at a worse time. Stay tuned for more from Lv1 Gaming.
