Well, Nightdive Studios has certainly had a busy period. Last summer after a long wait we finally got Blade Runner Enhanced Edition. This month they delivered the remaster to Quake 2 and we know they are working on System Shock 2 after bringing us the remake to the original System Shock. In fact, we can look at the games listed on their site and we may recognize a few more upcoming remasters. Such as another Turok title and now an iconic Star Wars game.
Nightdive Studios did indeed bring us the remaster of Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Now the studio has announced a remaster of the third game in the Turok franchise. So we can expect Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to follow in the remastered footsteps of its predecessors. This remaster is being made available on 14th November for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, According to the Venture Beat article. Nightdive says it will offer “upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for console gamepads with platform-specific features”. We have the official Gamescom 2023 trailer below.
That Isn’t All For Nightdive Studios
We also have a Star Wars Dark Forces remaster announced. Like Turok 3 it will be available to play on every console and PC. So before the events of Jedi Knight, take the role of Kyle Katarn on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. According to IGN Nightdive has cleaned up the gameplay and cutscenes of the nearly thirty-year-old game. Similar to what they accomplished with the recently released remaster for Quake 2. They will use their in-house Kex Engine. What this means is it will allow modernized controls, a 4k resolution, and 60 fps. We also have the official announcement trailer below.
