Recent news has surfaced about a new Xbox exclusive “Monster Hunter” type game. Currently known as “Project Suerte,” the game is to be developed by Certain Affinity, a studio that has worked on multiple Halo titles.
What We Know
Xbox is looking to expand the variety of video game genres accessible on Gamepass, and a co-op Monster Hunter-style game would most certainly check that box. GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb recently stated on his GrubbSnax show, “They want more variety in the kinds of games they’re putting on Game Pass, and this is an example of that.”

“They’re working with Certain Affinity on what seems like a Monster Hunter style game – a Monster Hunter clone,” Grubb said. “They see this gameplay style succeeding, and Microsoft’s like, ‘hey, we should try to make one of those. Is anyone out there going to pitch one?”
Certain Affinity is a video game development studio out of Austin, Texas. The company was founded in 2006 by Max Hoberman and industry veterans and former Bungie employees. CA has previous work with Microsoft, extensively working on the Halo franchise games and franchises like Doom, Call Of Duty, and Left 4 Dead.
“Monster Hunter” Type Game Details
An Xbox exclusive “Monster Hunter” type game could be just what the Gamepass platform needs to bolster the already diverse list of games available. With the success of Monster Hunter on Nintendo Switch, a similar co-op RPG would be a great addition to mobile cloud gamers and gamers on console and PC. Details are limited; however, the idea of big monster battles, RPG elements, and multiplayer sounds like a match made in gaming heaven. Project Suerte has reportedly been in development since 2020 and projects for a 2023 0r 2024 release window. We will have to wait for more details, hopefully soon. As a fan of the Monster Hunter franchise, I patiently wait for more information as it becomes available.
