My Most Anticipated First-Person Shooter Finally Got a Release Date

I know it’s not a fresh take for everyone who knows about it. But I always had my eye on Mouse: PI For Hire ever since it was revealed back in 2023. Sure, the style is the immediate draw for the game; however, I have always loved first-person shooters and loved every bit of gameplay that has been shown over the years. The boomer shooter approach with quirky rubber-hosed weapons just makes me giddy with excitement.

Let’s fast-forward to a few days ago, when we received an important announcement about its release date. It was always slated for this year, but more time to deliver the goods is always welcome. As such, it was delayed into next year, but there is a concrete release date to let excited onlookers like me know when it’s available. That being said, on March 19th, next year is when everyone (including me) will be able to enjoy it!

Why You Should be Excited for Mouse: PI For Hire

In an age where trends are set and done to death by indies before the big triple-A studios can get their hands on them (looking at you, Bungie’s Marathon), Mouse: PI For Hire is not a trend setter nor chaser. Instead, it just looks to be another incredible first-person shooter crafted with that signature indie love, with its aesthetic and tone doing a lot of the work to help it stand out.

Whether you want to grapple hook with your tail in platforming and combat. Or using a Tommy gun, a spinach launcher, or a wiggly shotgun (and even a demonic chainsaw like Doom?). Mouse: PI For Hire aims to be one of “those” indies. It aims to be the type of indie game that won’t overstay its welcome or fail to impress next year. We may already be looking at the indie that will live up to the hype, like Silksong or Hades 2.

Currently, there is no price set for the game at this time. But it will be coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. I just hope it will be verified on the Steam Deck at launch so I can enjoy it on the go as a PC player.
