What was rumored to be Mortal Kombat 12 turned out to be a reboot/sequel to the current version aptly named Mortal Kombat 1. We also have the official Lin Kuei Trailer which can be shown below. As we know very well with the franchise it is not for the faint of heart. The upcoming release according to the trailer “ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities!”. We also know from the game’s announcement there will be a beta next month. This is ahead of the game’s launch the month after.
The most recent installment wasn’t shy of adding cameo crossover characters either. For example, Peter Weller reprised his iconic role by lending his voice to Alex Murphy / Robocop. We also saw Skynet join the fray with the addition of the T-800 from The Terminator. Mortal Kombat 10 gave us the legendary Predator and the iconic Jason Voorhees. So who could be coming to Mortal Kombat 1?
Some Mortal Kombat 1 Cameos
Well after decades of trying, they have Jean Claude Van Damme in the game. He will be a skin for Johnny Cage. Though you’ll need to get the premium edition of the game to get the add-on pack with his skin. It seems according to Eurogamer we have more coming to the game. Leaked via a roster on TikTok we have a crossover with The Boys. It seems the Amazon hit show joins the fight with the inclusion of Homelander. And Ghost of Tsushima actor Daisuke Tsuji who plays Jin Sakai has teased the role of Scorpion. Though naturally this isn’t officially confirmed. We will hear much more as we come closer to the September release
