Monster Hunter: Wilds Gets A Release Date

The much-long-anticipated Monster Hunter: Wilds finally got a release date earlier today at Sony’s State of Play. February 28, 2025.

That’s not all. The trailer showcases the new flagship monster, The White Wraith, and a new locale, the Scarlet Forest. The White Wraith lives up to its namesake, swooping in over snow-covered mountains as a blizzard roars. The handler remarks that it is an extinct species. All the while the cutscene shows every hunter in the coop party, a much-requested feature.

The updated gameplay and graphics are on full display as the monsters and environments look better than ever along with lots of awesome particle effects for monsters’ wings, roars, and weather effects. Making a return is the clutch claw, with gameplay seeing a hunter using it to pull boulders down on a monster.

One decision that fans are split on is the decision to have Palicos be voiced this time around. That’s right. They talk now. So now when you’re yelling at your palico to revive you, they’ll yell back. Time will tell if gamers find this decision to be a good or bad one. Monster Hunter: Wilds releases on February 28, 2025. Pre-orders are live now with the usual pre-order bonuses being offered.
