Is Halo Switching Engines? The Spawnies 2023, One For The Ages Horizon Forbidden West Multi-Player On The Way? Quantum Break Worth Playing Nearly A Decade Later? SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Review

At the start of last month, we heard stories about Metal Gear Solid 3. This was thanks to a trailer surfacing online, indicating a remake. Unfortunately, it seemed to be completely fake. This was due to it using default Unreal Engine 5 assets by Quixeltools. Earlier still, we also had news of an HD port from an NVIDIA leak for the second and third games. We also heard Konami were interested in reviving franchises. A Silent Hill 2 remake has been confirmed since, along with new projects in the franchise. What about the story of Snake?

The last Metal Gear Solid game we saw was the fifth in the series, The Phantom Pain. There was an entry in the franchise after the well-reported departure of Kojima from Konami. The game in question was Metal Gear: Survive, which was not well-received by critics or fans. Though it seems something could be on the way following an article by Famitsu.

What This Means For Metal Gear

This article is from a Japanese news source that was covered by Pure Xbox. It seems we have some news from one of the producers of the Metal Gear franchise, Noriaki Okamura. What he has said is that 2023 is a year to watch as it “is going to be a year with many announcements,” and is said to include a “long-awaited” announcement. We know of the Silent Hill 2 remake, as stated earlier. Though this doesn’t mean a return for Snake, but a long-awaited announcement would fit the bill for a return to the franchise made famous by Hideo Kojima.

Naturally, this is only speculation, so until we have some official announcement, it’s still just a guessing game. As always we’d love to hear from you about this news. Why not get in touch and share your thoughts? If it turns out the rumors are true, who is developing it? It doesn’t seem likely that Hideo Kojima will want to work with Konami. He also has some projects with Xbox as well as Death Stranding 2 to work on. Konami has partnered with outside studios to bring projects to fruition. Going back to Silent Hill 2 is an example. The development on that is being led by the Polish studio Bloober Team. Would Konami do similar for a Metal Gear Solid title?
