Lightfall Proving A Headache For Destiny On PS5

Lightfall

We’ve just seen the recent State of Play and for fans of Bungies’ shooter, they can check out the PlayStation Blog post on the game expansion. Make a note as it launches tomorrow as of the time of writing.

So we see the release penciled in for the 28th of February. As well as the new content the blog post highlights the quality of life changes the game will get when Lightfall hits in just a matter of hours now. It states that “the Destiny 2 team has also been hard at work crafting a host of behind-the-scenes improvements to gameplay, armor customization, and more that will not just make your life as a Guardian easier, but more effective in combat too.” However, for fans on PlayStation 5, the expansion they purchased is running into a bit of an issue.

Destiny fans who are excited for the game, may have already rushed out to go and pre-order the Lightfall expansion on their platform. However, for those who dropped a pre-order on PlayStation 5, the upcoming expansion has given players a major headache. Now Bungie has a pretty big issue to solve. If you’ve preloaded the expansion early, you may run into an issue of being locked out of the game completely. They posted the following on their official help Twitter account to warn people:

However, while this may be a temporary fix, this is not the ideal solution. As we see from Bungie it’s not a small download. As the system requirements for PlayStation 5 state

  • Install Size: 102.6 GB*
  • Storage Space Needed for Pre-Load: 102.6 GB

So if you don’t have great internet, for example, 103 GB will take some time. This is sadly one of the issues with games nowadays especially being extremely large files.
