Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a game we haven’t really talked about in a while. However, it’s been a couple of years since this RPG has been in the news. Though that was for some very odd reasons regarding news of a port for the Nintendo Switch. However, since that story, all has gone quiet from Warhorse Studios over this release. I recently revisited the game as it’s an RPG I really enjoyed and waited some time for the release.
When this port happens, assuming it ever does it will be available on every platform. As for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S it runs via backward compatibility. Though earlier this year Kingdom Come: Deliverance celebrated its fifth anniversary as it launched originally in February 2018. Warhorse took the time to say thank you as well by providing a special trailer.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Five Years Later
As I said I decided to revisit and see how the game is holding up in 2023. All footage here is captured on PlayStation 5 running via backward compatibility. Though I could have easily played through again on Series X as both versions are pretty much identical. Here’s a look at some gameplay as well.
So we can see that the game still plays fairly well and looks as good as it did at launch. Though it’s an intriguing game in that it can appear a little rough in places before looking absolutely fantastic in others. It has excellent gameplay mechanics, and the combat still requires you to concentrate.
Should This Medieval RPG Be Revisited
That is the focus of today’s article. We have an incredible RPG, one of my favorites in the genre. Is it worth upgrading, as they did with Ark Survival Evolved or The Witcher 3? So, give the game a facelift and upgrade it to take advantage of newer hardware. That is not even a question for me yes it needs an upgrade. It’s a top-tier RPG in my honest opinion, though we have a game that could offer so much more. It’s a game I’d like to see ported to modern hardware and utilize Unreal Engine 5. However, that is wishful thinking on my part.
