For some countries, such as Eastern locations like India or New Zealand, Horizon: Forbidden West is out. So whilst they play the rest of the world waits. Maybe the first few trees in the Play and Plant project can be planted. But with a big launch, we have the expected Day One Patch.
Guerilla has released the Day One Patch for their long-awaited sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn so if you’re waiting for Horizon: Forbidden West to unlock in your time zone then it may be wise to install the Day One Patch for the game even though it’s not the largest update.

What to expect in the Day One Patch for Horizon: Forbidden West
Horizon: Forbidden West will be on version 1.40 after the update. The patch weighs in at a meager 500MB regardless of you’re on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, or PlayStation 5. And it’s not the first update, review copies had pop-in issues until Guerilla pushed out a patch. The patch notes found for version 1.40 according to PlayStation Game Size are as follows.
- Various performance improvements
- Fixes for certain rare or conditional crashes / progression blockers
- Fixed a few instances where the Game Progression page in the Notebook would not update correctly
- Addressed several cosmetic issues
