We are a few days into the lifespan of the long-awaited sequel to hit game Horizon Zero Dawn. Guerrilla Games sequel Horizon Forbidden West is now out and has been well received and not given gamers many issues to truly complain about. From review copies to launch the game has already received two updates. The Dutch developers are already working on the game when and where issues are should they arise.
Now within the first week, we have another update due which has some hefty patch notes. They also posted on the games reddit page a full list of patch notes and what they are looking at for the update. It is clear they care about Forbidden West and want it to shine to its full potential. It’s a similar approach we saw with its predecessor five years ago.
What Are The Major Issues Dealt with In This Update?
The issues brought to their attention are looking at are
- The team is investigating with high priority, several graphical issues reported by players regarding shimmering, sharpening and screen saturation when moving the camera.
- Some players are experiencing an issue with infinite loading screens when attempting to load into Melee Pits.
- Some players are experiencing an issue where Aloy’s outfit appears blurry in Photo Mode.
- Players are experiencing an issue in main quest ‘Reach for the Stars’ where Aloy can’t interact with a machine carcass, blocking progression.
What is included in the 1.05 patch for Horizon Forbidden West
The most common complaints were issues with the HDR, more specifically the image oversharpening. There is also an issue with Aloy and NPCs sometimes having odd facial animations. Issues like this were fixed in today’s update. Along with other issues found were bugs blocking progression and crashes.
For the full patch notes, it’s best to review the Reddit article as it’s a hefty set of patch notes. They did break them down into sections which include
- Main Quests
- Side Quests and Errands
- World activities
- Gameplay fixes
- General fixes
- Crash fixes
So hopefully any issues you have encountered will be either fixed in this update or at least identified. Considering the game is less than a week old and they are straight onto reports is a positive sign. However, what do you think about this news? Did you jump into the Forbidden West?
