A while back we spoke of a leak regarding the upcoming action RPG Hogwarts Legacy. What leaked were details of a deluxe and collectors edition. At the time, the game only had a release window during the Holiday season, so people were expecting a release date. Then soon after we got a release date, along with bad news.

First of all, let’s get the bad news out the way. The developer posted the announcement via Twitter on the game’s official channel. So what we have is a slight delay to the game’s release.

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on February 10, 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Nintendo Switch launch date will be revealed soon. The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.

Hogwarts Legacy delayed but now has a release date

So as we see, the game now has a concrete release date, it’s set to launch on the 10th of February. Meaning like previous delays, the game needed a touch more work to bring the game to a level that is acceptable for launch. The positive side is that it doesn’t look like a lengthy delay.

Hogwarts And Why Gamers Should Not Get Too Over Excited

Games get delayed all the time, even games that have since proven to be a success. For example, The Last of Us Part 2 was delayed. In fact, at the time it was said to be delayed indefinitely. Back in 2014, CD Projekt Red promised The Witcher 3 would meet its release date then seven months later announce a delay. So delays happen. But some are frustrated over the nature of the game being delayed again and voicing opinions on Twitter

Rumors also persisted that the game was delayed due to the upcoming November release of God of War Ragnarök. In a Q&A video, Alanah Pearce dismissed that as unlikely. Therefore, whatever the reason, fans aren’t happy. No one likes to see a game delayed. What we’d love to hear is your thoughts on this news. Were you looking forward to the game?
