Chalk this up to something the world will never know. Recently on Twitter Hideo Kojima announced he had previously shelved a project with a similar story to the popular Amazon show The Boys.
The Boys is a superhero television series developed for the streaming service Amazon Prime Video. The series, which is loosely based on the comic book of the same name follows a group of vigilantes as they battle people who abuse their superpowers.
According to Kojima “The concept was the same, a black “anti-hero” story in which a superhero and a human face-off, but the setting, gimmicks, and tone were very different from what I had in mind for my previous project.
It’s key here to note that this shelved title may not have actually been a game but it’s probably a safe bet to say it may have been. Personally, The Boys is one of my favorite shows ever as it is what I believe the world would be if Super Heroes actually existed. A group of people who are more concerned over how they can have a personal gain by saving lives.
Again, we will likely never know what Kojima was creating with this project, but it’s nice to dream.
