British studio Hello Games doesn’t seem to stop it seems. After launching No Man’s Sky and seeing it have a troubled launch, they have more than redeemed themselves since. Hello Games have updated the game continuously with several updates. In fact, update number 20 is now available which is Outlaws. This gives the game a pirate underworld as well as an overhaul for the space combat. This follows the Sentinel update which reworked ground combat.
Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray has spoken to IGN about where the studio is going next. As ultimately, they will need to move on from No Man’s Sky. Therefore when that day comes, where next.
Hello Games And The Life After No Man’s Sky
Sean Murray told IGN that the next project from Hello Games is just as ambitious. So bold claims after they said this with No Man’s Sky. However, this is what he told IGN.
For a while now we’ve been working on something pretty ambitious in the background. It’s a small team but we like it that way.
Similar to No Man’s Sky, it’s the kind of project that even if we had a thousand people working on it, it’d still seem impossible.
Murray also confirmed it’s still in “very early development” and No Man’s Sky is still being supported. We also know they are far from done with No Man’s Sky and also and the fact they have two projects isn’t impacting development on either project.
No Man’s Sky is not being held back by the next project but neither is the new thing being slowed by No Man’s Sky.
We’re lucky enough to be able to allow folks to move freely to work on what excites them.
Did They Learn From The No Man’s Sky Launch
Sean Murray is very much aware. IGN reported this fact back in 2020 and Sean Murray spoke about that very launch. We also know they are saying very little about this project at this moment in time. This is understandable after launching No Man’s Sky. Murray said this at the time
I mean, look, we have learned our lesson. We don’t want to start talking about anything too early
So in the meantime, we have another update and it seems many more to come for No Man’s Sky. As they are far from done with the game and it sounds as though the future continues to shine.
I’m amazed that the energy levels are as high now as they’ve ever been. We tend not to talk about what’s on that list publicly but suffice to say we’re not done yet by a long shot.
And your thoughts? Are you enjoying No Man’s Sky as it stands today or did the developers lose your trust after launch? Nintendo owners should also soon be to get in on the act as No Man’s Sky will launch on the Switch soon.
