We’ve seen the official confirmation on the GTA trilogy due this year. Since that announcement, we’ve had several rumors circulating over various aspects of the release. These included its featuring a control setup to match those seen on GTA V. The PC specifications also saw a leak as did the level of enhanced features and a price point. None of which at the time was confirmed by Rockstar. Leaving fans wondering what we would truly see in the Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy remasters.
Though all of these had legitimate claims to be accurate. The level of enhancements for example was seemingly posted in error by Rockstar. A legitimate UK retailer, Base posted the preorder listings up but only had a price point. At the time it was rumored the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions were going to be delayed until next year. That seemed far-fetched due to the official announcement being hours before for the Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy remasters.
Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy remasters. The full facts for the release.
Before today we knew what systems the game was launching on later this year. Rockstar has now provided a trailer that gives us a look at the original trilogy as it launched and how it will look running in the Unreal Engine. And the fan feedback on this trailer at least is they haven’t disappointed.
The official announcement describes what we see in this trailer.
Additional enhancements across all three titles include a completely rebuilt lighting system; improved shadows, weather, and reflections; upgraded character and vehicle models; along with new higher resolution textures across buildings, weapons, roads, interiors, and more. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition also features a range of environmental upgrades including all new foliage, smoother surfaces, and increased draw distances to provide a new level of depth and clarity throughout the world.
Price and release details.
Pricing wise it seems the UK pricing point was close to accurate. All versions seem to be £54.99/ $59.99 except the Switch at £49.99. The US price on the Switch is remaining at $59.99. No reason has been given for the UK switch release being priced differently. It’s available to buy from the Rockstar store.
As for a release date we have confirmation as well. This trilogy is going to be launching on the original date the GTA V upgrade was due. That is 11th November. However, that puts it a, potentially busy day for gamers as also coming that day is the upgraded release of Skyrim. So 11/11/21 is a day of big hitters fighting it out.
As always we’d love to hear your thoughts on this news. Are you excited about the remaster’s? If you’re getting them what platform. Would a Switch version persuade you more?
