Just a few weeks ago Lv1 Gaming reported about Sony Pictures Entertainment having three game-to-screen adaptations in the works. We were given vague details on God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn although it’s noted that the Horizon show is a prequel to the story of Aloy we’ve become familiar with. However, the third title was intriguing as no one expected this adaptation or where it was going. The game adaptation in question is Gran Turismo The Movie
Well, we have a little more information on the Gran Turismo The Movie project. The film is now being directed by Neil Blomkamp. If his name rings a bell it’s maybe from District 9, Chappie, or Elysium. So where does the popular PlayStation racer fit into the mix? After all the game is not plot-driven as it’s a driving sim. However, we know who’s doing the screenplay, who’s directing it and producing it, and more.
Let’s Discuss Gran Turismo The Movie Details
Thanks to Deadline we can see more information. We know who’s directing it and it will be a Colombia Pictures release. Jason Hall who wrote American Sniper is doing the screenplay for this. Producing it we have Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions. They are working alongside Doug Belgrad who also produced Bad Boys For Life and Peter Rabbit. Alongside him, we have Dana Brunetti the producer of The Social Network
As for the plot, Deadline states:
Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.
So what do you think about this news? Are you going to be watching it when it hits the cinema? The current release date is 11th August next year. So as always, get in touch and share your views.
