The Xbox and Bethesda Showcase has come and gone, and we witnessed a wide range of announcements and updates, as well as an extended showcase with a handful of surprises. So we got a release date for Scorn, Valheim coming to Xbox, and the first proper look at the new Forza Motorsport during the course of the two events. The greatest piece of news was the first look at Starfield, which included everything from features to gameplay. However, the GoldenEye Remaster was a much-rumored game that did not exist.
The rumors about this started way back at the start of the year, and nothing ever materialized from it. The rumors were fuelled by achievements being unlocked by staff from Rare. So how could a game that doesn’t exist have unlockable achievements, especially from staff employed by Rare themselves? That is a question asked by many fans recently. More so with the recent showcase having been and gone.
GoldenEye Remastered, When It Could Be Revealed
Direct Feed Games posted on Twitter about a upcoming Nintendo Direct. This backs up the news from GoNintendoTweet pointing to a event in about two weeks. An ex-IGN reporter Alanah Pearce spoke about this on Twitch also.
Both Nintendo and Microsoft have collaborated together with Super Smash Bros Ultimate getting DLC featuring Banjo & Kazooie. This partnership continued when Banjo & Kazooie from the N64 era. This was to bring the game to the Switch Online service. So could this partnership continue with GoldenEye? It is certainly not impossible. Therefore the upcoming Nintendo Direct could be the best time to announce this release.
There is an alternative for fans of the original GoldenEye whilst we patiently wait. On Steam, there is a game that pays tribute. That is Agent 64: Spies Never Die. However, what is your take on this GoldenEye Remaster? Were you expecting a reveal by now? All this is still a rumor and will remain that way until the game is confirmed.
