Like Deathloop, there is another timed PlayStation 5 exclusive to come from Bethesda. Both agreed before the acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft. The other title in question is Ghostwire Tokyo.
Why does that purchase affect Ghostwire Tokyo?
It was originally a PlayStation 5 exclusive but became a timed exclusive. And we know it’s because the developer is Tango Gameworks who is part of Bethesda.
When is it coming out?
It was coming to this October until an announcement was made on Twitter today. So now it is expected to release in early 2022.
Why did they it was getting delayed?
The statement issued should hopefully explain why:
We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible. So you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we’ve been hard at work building. At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always envisioned it.
Thank you for being patient as we work to bring you an experience unlike anything else we’ve ever made. We can’t wait to show you more in the coming months.
What do they mean by protecting health?
Tango Gameworks is a Tokyo-based studio. Now as we all know this is also the location of the delayed 2020 Olympic Games. CNN has reported that the Japanese Olympic Committee has decided that due to a coronavirus state of emergency, no spectators will be allowed and the Games will continue without them. All this just 10 days prior to the opening ceremony. So if a city is under alert this will affect businesses and if it means that for Tango Gameworks they have to delay due to this situation and not compromise the game then they have to do so. Their staff’s health is clearly high on the list of priorities.
