Recently LV1 Gaming had the opportunity to go to The Game Awards 2025 in Los Angeles, CA. While there, we met Ace “Call Me Ace” Patterson, CEO/Founder of Five Mics The Hip-Hop Trading Card Game. Hip-hop is a culture and genre of music that plays a big part in my life, so hearing there is a trading card game built around it immediately caught my eye. So what kind of card game is Five Mics?
What is Five Mics?

Five Mics is a two-player, fast-paced trading card game set in the world of hip-hop. You take on the role of a music executive, and you use your deck of cards that have superpowered hip-hop artists to battle other music executives to prove who is the “Greatest Of All Time” (G.O.A.T.). Each match is made up of a max of 12 rounds and is estimated to take 15 minutes to play.
Five Mics Key Features
- Quick To Learn: You won’t need to read mountains of text or do calculator math to play. This is a game, not a school exam!
- Fast To Play: Each match can only have up to 12 rounds max. That said, most matches end around Round 5!
- Hip-Hop Feel: We got “traps,” “Reups”, and life “afterdeath.” We got cards like Caught Slippin’, Headliner, and Royalty Check Came.
There are five styles, or subgenres, of cards: Chill, Party, Hardcore, Emo, and Conscious. Each style has artist, item, and event cards. The art style of the cards is original and fits within the varied subgenres of hip-hop.
There are currently five starter decks ($24.99 each) that represent each of the subgenres you can choose from. Or, if you want the whole set, you can order it for $99.99. If you are interested in testing the game out before you buy it, Five Mics has a digital version of the game you can play for free on the official website. Make sure to bring a friend because you need two people to play!
