EA Sports and the FIFA franchise have been in news recently. FIFA 22 is the recent installment and it could maybe be the last in the franchise if FIFA 23 isn’t thanks to some issues with FIFA. They are the governing body for world football. It seems EA and FIFA are on the same page with one subject.
This news is related to world events. We are all aware of the events in Ukraine and the invading Russian forces. The Ukrainian people are in the thoughts and prayers of many around the world. It’s an awful situation to witness and so sad to see events unfold.
EA And FIFA Are On The Same Page
FIFA and the European body UEFA have acted and removed the Russian national side from all international tournaments. Including the World Cup 2022 playoffs and the women’s club has been suspended from the Euro 2022 tournament this summer. Also, in the men’s domestic leagues, Spartak Moscow was removed from the Europa League. This led to Red Bull Leipzig going in their place.
All of these suspensions are in place for the foreseeable future. Therefore it is expected that whilst there’s a conflict the football sides are going to face these sanctions. Coupled with that, the UEFA Champion League final match was moved from Russia as well. When it comes to FIFA 22, EA is in accord with the football governing bodies.
Changes To FIFA 22
EA has announced the removal of Russian clubs from the game. This was the statement out on Twitter earlier today as they announced the company “stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people”.
That’s not all from EA as they are making changes to their NHL 22 title. They are removing all Russian and Belarusian teams from the game in the coming weeks. So what do you think about this? Do you think this should have been implemented faster? Nonetheless, it’s an awful situation and hopefully, things take a positive turn as we pray for those affected by the events in Ukraine.
