So cast your minds back to October, after the dust had settled on the Microsoft purchase of ZeniMax, we brought a story to your attention about a rumor of a sequel to one of the most popular games in the Fallout franchise. In fact, Fallout New Vegas is considered by most the best Fallout in the franchise. After Bethesda joined Microsoft, fans asked one thing. Will we ever see a Fallout: New Vegas 2?
New Vegas isn’t a Bethesda-developed as it was actually developed by Obsidian. Currently, Obsidian is finishing up Avowed and the sequel to their game The Outer Worlds. With Microsoft owning both Obsidian and Bethesda it also increased the belief of a chance of Fallout: New Vegas 2. And now it seems Fallout: New Vegas 2 is back in the rumors thanks to a new report.
What information do we have
This new report offers hope that a New Vegas sequel could be a reality. This is as it states Microsoft and Obsidian are in early discussions over a potential sequel. The source of this information comes from a reporter from VentureBeat. In his latest Giantbomb show Grubbsnax episode, Jeff Grubb discussed this. And was then transcribed by VGC.
This is very early, but people have begun to have talks and say these words in sentences, and these words are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘New Vegas 2’.
We’re talking years and years away. There’s at least an interest and conversations happening about making something like that actually a reality A lot of people at Microsoft think that this could work and there’s a lot of interest to make it happen.

Would Obsidian want to return to New Vegas
If the reports are accurate sadly this could be a few years away at least but it’s the most hopeful sign of a return to New Vegas. Even as far back as 2013, Obsidian were wanting to make a sequel. This came from their CEO, Feargus Urquhart who according to the VGC transcription said.
Oh, we’d love to do Fallout: New Vegas 2. It would be awesome. If I think of going from Fallout 1 to Fallout 2, we tried to associate the two areas somewhat closely.
It wasn’t just ‘Oh, we’re gonna do this 2,000 miles from here.’ So I think if we were to do Fallout: New Vegas 2 — or just a new Fallout — we would probably separate it from what the internal team at Bethesda’s doing.
It has been a long time since we saw the world of New Vegas. In fact, it’s been twelve years since this launched. Consequently, with the Microsoft purchase of ZeniMax, it’s good news for gamers on Xbox and PC. Xbox owners and subscribers to Game Pass can download the original for free as part of their subscription. PC owners with an active Game Pass subscription can download the Ultimate Edition at no extra cost.
