If you’re a fan of a more hardcore shooters on PC, you’ll be very familiar with the game Escape from Tarkov. We mentioned the game when talking about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 DMZ mode and item storage. Sadly, Tarkov is not yet available on consoles but I’m holding out hope. For those who’ve heard the name but are unfamiliar with exactly what the game is about, the official website describes it as “a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough”. The website also lists a lot more about environment hazards and various gameplay features. Also, the website showcases the pre-order options, as this is technically still classed as early access.
Escape from Tarkov is clearly well supported and popular with gamers, as it’s easily found now on Twitch after returning to streams a few years ago. The game has close to half a million followers, and naturally, it’s going to attract interest and new players along the way. Unfortunately, being a PC only shooter leaves one problem that almost every game on PC faces, players have resorted to cheating. Developer Battlestate are also very strict with people who use cheats in the game.
How Do They Deal With Cheating On Escape From Tarkov?
First of all, they’ve banned several cheaters using exploits like wallhacks and aim bots. It’s a common problem in most first person shooters even Call of Duty and Valorant. Tech Crunch have reported that Battlestate have banned 6,700 players over the games life. However, that’s not all they’ve done to try to curb the cheating problem. Battlestate have named and shamed the cheaters they banned and posted their names on publicly viewable spreadsheets.
A spokesperson for the developer, Dmitri Ogorodnikov spoke to Tech Crunch and stated they “want honest players to see the nicknames of cheaters to know that justice has been served and the cheater who killed them in a raid has been punished and banned.” It’s a unique take on dealing with the issue, that’s for sure. What do you think about the developers publicly blasting cheaters? Do you think this will discourage cheating in the future of the game? As always stay tuned for more from Lv1 Gaming.
