Xbox has turned 20 and gave us a look back into the past while also sharing a look to the future. Currently, Xbox has many games in production, ranging from Elder Scrolls VI to a new Perfect Dark. But where do fans stand with games like Elder Scrolls, a franchise that’s only seen multi-platform releases?
With Elder Scrolls VI confirmed to be coming at some point, some fans hoped and speculated it would be available to gamers in the PlayStation family of systems. A fair assumption as Elder Scrolls Online is still being supported on PlayStation. Also the anniversary for Skyrim headed to PlayStation 4 and 5. However, now we have been some clarity on the situation
The future of Elder Scrolls
In an interview given to the GQ website by Phil Spencer has answered a few questions on that title’s release information. So even though the next Elder Scrolls is likely to be years away, fans still ask about it being on PlayStation. Peter Hines has already confirmed Starfield is not on PlayStation. So also back then it was rumored Elder Scrolls was the same. So let’s look at what Phil said.
It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow. But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. So it seems if you’re eager to play the next Elder Scrolls on PlayStation, it’s bad news. As for when we’ll see it, don’t expect it before Fable as confirmed to IGN by Phil Spencer.
