When Microsoft confirmed the Zenimax Media acquisition, some big franchises were added to the Xbox family. At the time 20 Bethesda titles were put into the Gamepass vault. Part of these additions was the MMORPG from the Elder Scrolls series.
Elder Scrolls Online is a very popular release that has received several expansions since it launched. Due soon is the next update (Update 30), alongside the next expansion, Blackwood.
With this update, the game was due to be upgraded for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S/X. However, according to an official blog post, the release of this upgraded release has been delayed. The update was due on the 8th of June but now delayed by 1 week scheduling it for 15th June.
In an abundance of caution, we are moving the ESO: Console Enhanced launch out a week. We are doing this so we are not launching Update 30 (Blackwood) at the same time as Console Enhanced and can give both our undivided attention. The new date for ESO: Console Enhanced on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 is now Tuesday, June 15. Blackwood and Update 30 will launch as planned on PC/Mac/Stadia on June 1 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems (and backwards compatibility mode on current-gen consoles) on June 8.
What is changing in the upgrade?
According to the official blog there are some significant improvements to the game. The blog breaks down these changes more in depth but the breakdown is as follows.
Increased Draw Distance
Improvements to Reflections. Ambient Occlusion with Screen Space Global Illumination, Shadows, Depth of Field and Loading Times
Hopefully all these changes are worth the slight delay. Also, if you currently own the game the upgrade is free.
