Die Hard – A Franchise Long Overdue Say Goodbye To Xbox Game Pass $1 Promotion Burning Shores Expansion Pre Order Is Live Atelier Ryza Anime Is In The Works UbiSoft Will Not Be At E3 2023

Today via Dying Light 2: Stay Human Twitter account it was revealed that the game will take 500 hours to complete as a selling point for the long-awaited sequel for the original Dying Light that was released back in January of 2015.

Compared to the original game that has a completionist rate of 55hrs on the website How Long to Beat. 17 1/2hrs for just beating the main story. It seems to be that Dying Light 2 will be much bigger than its predecessor.

The developers did come back and say that the 500 hours that it takes to fully complete the game includes. “Finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world.” That “a regular player should finish the story + side quests and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours”.

Which frankly in my opinion is just too long. Of course, we will still have to wait until the game launches to see if these hours do match. Or if the developer is just using this as a way to promote their game.

Quality over Quantity

For me, this pushes me away from games, rather than bringing me into them. Maybe it’s just me growing older and becoming more of an “Adult.” I just don’t seem to find myself having the time for the like of these 100’s of hour-long games. I look at the Quality of the game versus the Quantity of what a game has to offer. The older I get the more Quality matters more to me.

I can only imagine that as developers it’s hard to find that sweet spot when you are developing a game. For me, I enjoy it when games respect your time in them. A lot of open-world games nowadays fill their world with side missions and fetch quests to make the gamepad out longer. Some of these missions and quests can provide some great rewards. While others take away from the main plot and meat of the title.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

For me on a personal level that sweet spot range from 12 hours for linear-based titles and up to 30 hours for an open-world game. This to me makes me as a gamer feel that my time is respected and not filled with fluff content to make my purchase seem worthy. As I will always say Quality over Quantity.
