Death Elevator, a roguelike bullet-time FPS, is arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on November 28th! Developed by Games From The Abyss and published by QUByte Interactive, Death Elevator first launched on Steam on November 15, 2023. In this game, you’re trapped in a challenging environment where an elevator transports you to increasingly difficult floors, each teeming with obstacles to overcome. Promising a fast-paced FPS roguelike experience, Death Elevator is designed to test your FPS skills.

Death Elevator boasts that every playthrough features randomly generated elements such as rooms, weapons, and challenges to ensure that no two runs are the same. Check out the console announcement trailer below!

Sometimes, you just want to play a game with a concept that’s immediately clear from a 10-second clip. Death Elevator feels like a perfect blend of Superhot and a roguelike, with time slowing down when you’re in the line of fire. If you’re burned out from sprawling 80-hour open-world RPGs, this might be the perfect palate cleanser. Ride a chaotic elevator, survive a few intense runs, and jump back in for more. The instant gratification of Superhot was what made it so addictive, and at first glance, Death Elevator seems poised to deliver that same level of excitement.

Currently, Death Elevator holds a positive rating on Steam, albeit with only 18 reviews—a surprisingly low number for such a sleek, low-poly FPS. Most reviews praise the game’s fantastic gunplay, stylish visuals, and smooth movement. The market for games inspired by or similar to Superhot may be small, but this indie title is one I’ll definitely be checking out.
