Not too long ago CD Projekt Red announced delays to the next-gen upgrades for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. This was just after Geralt’s next-gen debut was given its PEGI rating. As far as Cyberpunk goes, it seems we have something more concrete in regards to a release window.
CD Projekt Red recently gave a company briefing, which gave confirmation the upgrades are set for the first quarter of 2022. However, that’s not all as they have plans to release a major update for all platforms at the time the upgrade launches for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
So what we know so far for the future of Cyberpunk
As for this major update, we have no details. So all we have is the Tweet from Nibellion which broke down the news of the briefing. But CD Projekt Red has been working hard on improving Cyberpunk 2077 recently. So this may be the resulting work the developers have been doing recently. It may also explain the slightly later release window for The Witcher 3 upgrade as well. However, it’s likely once this is close to launching they will provide updates on that as the priority will likely be this upgrade and support for the existing versions.
They are going through the ongoing process of restructuring their team setup. Since the disastrous launch in December last year, they have expanded the team and reshuffled its resources. What is your take on this? Have you given up with Night City or are you eager to return next year? Is CD Projekt Red doing its best to regain your trust?
