The cozy gaming space is about to get a little stranger. The first-ever Cozy After Dark Showcase will premiere on October 12, 2026, bringing together more than 50 trailers, developer spotlights, new announcements, game launches, and demo drops built around a simple idea: cozy games do not always have to be completely comfortable.

Presented by Dames 4 Games, Draknek & Friends, and CONTINUE, Cozy After Dark is putting the spotlight on games that blend familiar cozy elements with mystery, darker themes, supernatural ideas, or just enough uneasiness to make players question what might be hiding beneath the surface. The showcase will also have a connection close to home for LV1 Gaming, as LV1 Gaming co-owner Baron Jones, better known as BaronJ67, will serve as one of the event’s co-hosts with Mackenie from Nerdershewrote.

Cozy Gaming With Something Hiding Underneath

Cozy games have grown into a massive corner of the gaming industry, but the genre has also become much broader than farming, decorating homes, and building friendships. Cozy After Dark is leaning directly into games that maintain that slower, more welcoming feeling while introducing worlds that may be mysterious, unsettling, or occasionally frightening.

That could mean exploring a peaceful town where something clearly is not right, meeting strange creatures in an otherwise charming world, or uncovering a mystery that slowly changes the tone of the entire adventure. It is a combination that gives developers room to play with atmosphere without necessarily turning their games into traditional horror experiences.

The organizers describe the concept as being “cozy on the surface” with something darker underneath. Games such as Cult of the Lamb, Oxenfree, and Slay the Princess offer good examples of how vastly different experiences can still occupy that space. Each presents players with distinctive darker themes while maintaining elements of charm, exploration, character interaction, or atmosphere that can appeal to audiences outside traditional horror.

More Than 50 Games Are Expected

The inaugural showcase is already shaping up to be a sizable event. More than 50 trailers and developer spotlights are planned, with a combination of announcements, newly released games, demo launches, and other reveals from developers around the world.

Publishers and studios participating include names such as Raw Fury, Devolver Digital, and Balor Games, alongside a wide selection of smaller independent developers. That mix could make Cozy After Dark particularly interesting for players looking for games that may otherwise get buried during larger industry showcases.

Viewers can expect:

  • More than 50 game trailers and developer spotlights
  • New game announcements and launches
  • New and updated playable demos
  • Games from established indie publishers and smaller developers
  • Opportunities to discover and wishlist upcoming releases
  • A dedicated Steam event following the showcase

Partners Muxy.io and Player.gg will also be involved, with additional tools designed to help viewers discover and learn more about the games appearing during the presentation.

Indie Games

Indie games and smaller developers have long been an important part of what we cover at LV1 Gaming, especially when showcases create opportunities for projects outside of the industry’s biggest publishers to reach new audiences. Cozy After Dark’s more specific focus also gives the event an identity of its own rather than simply becoming another rapid-fire collection of trailers.

For developers, that focused audience could be just as valuable as the size of the showcase itself. Players tuning into Cozy After Dark already know the type of experience they are looking for, giving games built around atmosphere, mystery, unconventional storytelling, and cozy mechanics a chance to stand out.

Cozy After Dark Continues on Steam

The showcase itself will only be the beginning. A dedicated Cozy After Dark Steam event will run from October 12 through October 19, giving players additional time to explore games featured during the presentation.

The Steam event will include new and updated demos, special discounts, and pages for upcoming titles that players can add to their wishlists. That gives viewers an opportunity to immediately explore some of the games that catch their attention instead of simply watching a trailer and waiting for additional information later.

The Cozy After Dark Showcase premieres Monday, October 12 at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET through Dames 4 Games on YouTube and Twitch. With more than 50 games expected and an entire showcase built around the increasingly blurred line between cozy and creepy, there should be plenty for indie fans to keep an eye on when things get a little darker this October.
